Stella News - July 2013

Post date: Jul 23, 2013 7:54:33 AM

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to the helpers we had at the work party on Sat 29th June, we managed to sort out the boat racks and assign racks to those Stella members who have paid for the racks and their Stella membership for the 2013 – 2014 season.

Please refer to the attached racks list indicating racks already allocated.

The Red highlighted names are for members who indicated that they want racks, but are yet to pay for them.

Please could these members pay for their racks by Tuesday 30th July, otherwise the racks will be allocated to other members and the boats in those racks, will be removed.

We also have about 30 odd boats that were found un-paid for in the old containers.

Some of these boats are still in very good condition and we urge you to make contact with us via this email address, should you be aware that you still have boats at Stella.

You can claim your boat, free of charge until Tuesday 30th July, after which a R200.00 penalty per boat, will be enforced.

The boats that remain unclaimed at the end of August 2013, will be auctioned.

We plan to have a boat auction on Saturday 14 September 2013.

A list of boats that will be available for auction, will be published in the last week of August.

I also want to congratulate a few Stella members on their paddling achievements in the last month or so.

Firstly to Cameron Hudson, who was chosen to represent South Africa at the 2013 ICF Junior and U23 Sprint World Champoinships to be held in Welland, Ontario, Canada.

Cameron, we wish you well and much success and know that you will make South Africa and Stella Canoe Club , very proud.

Well done on all the hard training you have put in and commitment shown.

Cameron’s trip is not a fully funded tour and his parents need to raise R24000.00

Should there be an individual or business willing to assist in funding the tour, please contact Cameron’s dad, Tyron on the following email address:sandthudson@polka.coza

Secondly, we congratulate Lee Mcgregor for his superhuman effort in finishing 8th overall in the 2013, 4-day, 280km Berg River Canoe Marathon.

And this at the tender age of only 62 !

Lee, you are truly amazing and we salute your achievement.

Thirdly, we congratulate Patrick Eley for finishing 2nd in the Masters Class of the first ever ICF Surfski World Champs, held in Portugal earlier this month.

Patrick, I know how hard you have trained for this race and your efforts again prove that hard work and determination, really pays off. Well done !

A further reminder that the canoeing season is now in full swing, so please got those registration forms completed, make the payment and get onto the water.

Please see the Stella and KNCU forms attached again.

A summary of the fees are as follows -

Juniors: Stella R 110 + KNCU R 175 = R 285

Seniors: Stella R 360 + KNCU R 570 = R 930

Boat racks are R 200 each for all.

See you at the club.

Rgds,

Neels Meyer
